Okay, I'll post our breakthroughs here:

GamerDr has discovered that the code from the end of heartme.net is the KEY to the puzzle. Not a metaphorical key, but an actual key to the code. If you don't know about the heartme puzzle, you can go to heartme.net and solve it ;). StarBuck already claimed the reward for it.
Anyway, it gives you this bianry at the end:
11100000111l10000000001l10000000001l00010001000l00000100000l00000010000l00001000000l00010000000l10000000001l10000000001l11100000111

You split it via the vertical bars, and it gives
11100000111
10000000001
10000000001
00010001000
00000100000
00000010000
00001000000
00010000000
10000000001
10000000001
11100000111

Which is strikingly familiar to a certain board...

GamerDr discovered that every board, whether core code, or scanner code, has black squares in those locations (the ones). Now, we're trying to find where the default white squares are...

Ok, I spent far, faaaaar too much trying to suss this out yesterday, :P
Silken wrote:You have 'save' a number of times on that spread sheet, so compare. either top or bottom - left or right should be the same. Then you just need to create a pattern for 'file' on the other half.
It looks like this isn't totally feasible. While it was possible to cross-compare various patterns (and boy did I go through some,) the patterns themselves can be rotated 90 degrees making top/bottom and left/right elimination inaccurate. You could certainly compare between 2 different code orientations and come up with something (I'll binary post what I came up with on request - uploading photos on my ipad kills me and the info may not be accurate - see below) but you'd need to know the orientation of the codes you're comparing it against to make an accurate comparison.
TryJoKing wrote:Also, did you know that when you find a binary code, you can flip the 4th and 5th or the 7th and 8th lights on an edge and get a different binary code?
Yup, this was known. :) (Like most things, by accident ofc!) Many hours were sunk into trying to calculate the values of these small changes, in at attempt to manipulate some of the code values. It wouldn't take a huge change to turn the SaveFjVu code into SaveFile for example, but boy is it tougher than it looks :P I compiled a small list of value changes of changing a couple of lights in different positions, and did this for a few codes for comparison. Even taking into account the rotation differences (and that the "top" side of 1 code is the "left" side of another etc,) I couldn't find a single consistant match. I did make sure to use the same binary state values (comparing turning 2 lights off etc) when possible.

I wish I'd found the site earlier, that took 2 minutes to crack :P Great fun of course :)

The code Marty provides is awfully sparse. If it wasn't complete around the borders, I'd be tempted to say that it's half a code, and there's another half hidden in a future website. (Great job btw Trickster/LadTy, always enjoyed the Hack RUN series for fake websites.) Nice find on seeing that those values are in every code GamerDr. If this code isn't a half of something, then maybe it can be used to establish a base orientation for comparison, since every code doesn't have this layout without a little bit of rotating.

I *have* to be done with this for a bit now though, as it's taking too much of my time :P If anyone else was interested in trying to compare the binary value differences to make small changes to a code, I'll add in my 1 useful nugget of information in all this. As well as 45 and 78 being able to be swapped, you can also use the following combinations: Top row 4 + Left column 4, Top row 8 + Right column 4, Left column 8 + Bottom row 4, and Right column 8 +Bottom row 8. Also, given that 32 lights are always the same (5 black and 3 white in each corner) and that the centre light has no value in lights out games, that leaves 88 lights, 11 lights per bit of code. If someone could suss out which lights affect which codes, maybe any message could be outputted :)

So yeah, as I say, need to put this down for a bit, but will be watching. The solution is probably muuuuuch simpler than all this :P

Okays guys, we have one winner. I don't know who though.

While attempting to make one of the core puzzles in the scanner, Kaelas made one that was only two blocks off and produced binary. This binary translated into "SaveDjRu". There was much bickering and so forth on what this meant. We also had a lot of other puzzles that produced something similar to that phrase, like "SAveLjRu". Earlier today, Starblast typed "SaveDjVu" into the redeem code place, and got this message:

Seems someone else has already claimed the rewards ): . So what now? Do we try and find the binary for the other codes (if there are any)?

Well, this is a little dissapointing. Not only did I have that code ages ago, but there's no redeem code option on iOS (as far as I know) :P What does it look like the meaning of the phrase is? :)

I'm sure there are plenty more puzzles to find though. The heart.me result still seems a little vague ...

We know. :| True story is that it was on both platforms, but couple days before release Appstore review team asked us to remove it due to guidline 3.1.1 (roughly meaning there can not be any external gifting in an app, only inApps). We could either postpone the release and rework this puzzle or keep it as is. You know what we decided and yes we understand the bitterness of it. But the reward was for only one player anyway and we hope that you at least enjoyed the solving itself.

Nah, there's no bitterness :) A touch of obsession maybe, but it's been fun. :D I've enjoyed all of the components here. Thank you so much for adding little things like this! It's been great to come together as a community and bounce ideas and such from each other! Thank you too guys!

Well I never took part in trying to solve. Creating patterns isn't my sort of thing. But I looked at the HeartMe site and that was cool. Plus, whilst I know the term DjVu I would have probably skipped/missed it. Just as others did.

It was great fun watching others try, and must have been fun on discord.

One more thing:

At discord we've translated(ish) two of the core codes. From the binary we've confirmed in them, both appear to say "SaveDjVu". I guess that's the code for all of them...

GUYS GUYS. New thing!

SaveDjVu.com is a real website, and gives some new qr-like codes. It acts like the core does, giving certain codes when you refresh. I've translated one of the codes, and guess what?

It turns into more binary  . Specifically, it turns into the binary for "e". Over at discord, we're trying the translate the rest.

Oh, well played guys! Might have to join you over there, this'll drive me nuts otherwise :P
