I think this is the one that did it for me. The straw that broke the back. I understand the player used resources but to attack one target multiple times and you can only hack the person back one time. Even tho your security log showed multiple attacks. In this one instance I am not talking 1 or even 5 hacks. I am speaking about 11 hacks in the course of a day. Again I am not for any shields or a way to defend I think you should be able to attack someone as many times as you wish. But as a defender with only ONE shot back. This is what has made me play casual.

No longer are my days of playing this all day, baby sitting my phone. I log in once a day do a few hacks and log off. I have donated I thought I would do more but for me this is the end. I am happy with most of the game in the current state but I see this to be abused later on. I ll see you guys around on the networks and forums. But its time I take a break. I had a good 3 months of playing every day all day. But this one has left me with some thoughts and way too much salt in my mouth.

Happy Hacking, Good luck trickster I hope the few hundred I donated helps you update or do something more with the app than pay a few bills.

I was gonna post a response to this, but thought I'd wait for VNasty to quit ;)

If it was 11 times during a day (even though you were "away for the holidays" - still, I'm sure it's verifiable), that's still less than once every two hours. Maybe retraces could have a cooldown of 2-3 hours on the same person, instead of being deleted completely?

You still can go and search the attack through searches repeatedly, the same way he did.

It is sad to hear that this is so much of an tipping point for you. But to implement retrace in a way you are suggesting would cause more bad than good.

It's so sad when people, playing the game, come across an issue they don't like and feel they have to complain about it on the forums.

But, what's good here through is that the playing community are respectful and there are no posts such as 'stop crying' - 'just play the game' - 'deal with it kid' - 'go play the kindergarden farm app'

I mean the 'end game' just isn't for everyone. Someone on the game got hacked repeatedly and has decided to quit for a little bit and that's an ok thing for our younger gamers. We need to respect the mental weakness of the younger generation.

I so proud of us here. So so proud. :D

Whether or not your intent was benevolent, you come across as condescending and ageist when you say that.

I am in agreement with the OP, with the condition that retracing the same target more than twice in a short period activates a cool-down of several hours. If you could retrace more often than that, the cycle of revenge could become rather ugly, and game-breaking.

Now... this statement is a little concerning:

The way I read it, you're saying you are aware of this and other major mechanical flaw in the end-game, but will ignore them. You're telling your most loyal customers - the ones most likely to have spent money - to live with any major problems they discover. I look at other game devs who do the same thing but have more transparent reasoning, and I see their end-game imbalances are designed for rather insidious (and short-sighted) business practices. I hope this is not the case for Trickster, but my expectations are guarded.

From perspective of seeing the entire database of players, this is not "a major mechanical flaw". From Vnasty's perspective it may be percieved as an issue and we hear that. We receive a lot of feedback and we see lot of issues ourselves. There are more things we would like to solve than we have manpower to really solve them.

Suggestions we receive from players are usually not that simple to implement as they might seem or they would bring negative consequences on other players. We have to find out and design good solutions that will work for majority of players.

Saying more or less "fix it now or I will quit" is understandable, yet not possible for us to fulfil in anyway. Really, we are willing to help you guys having better ingame experiences, we are only people and our team has limits though.

We hear your voice here on forum, we recieve hunderds of emails, we do not ignore you, we just need to make priorities and think many times before we start changing complex systems.

Does it sound fair enough?

From the point of view of active-player-since-beta: it is a little bit wild cyberspace, but not due to bad attitude of developers, but due to lack of more high-level players. I'm on high level (81 currently) and high reputation (1900+).

Imagine following: I just hacked high level players - let's say all in TOP5... which targets should World map offer me now?
a) some low level players - that would be unfair, obviously
b) the same, high level players - than I can hack them multiple times per day, again unfair
c) not the same players again, not low level players - I would end up with empty globe - unfair for me :-)

Solution 1 - I proposed unofficial "gentle-hacker rule" months ago:
one hack per day per gentle-hacker
All TOP3 players and few other are following this rule and it works.
My personal rule is also "hack only other TOP10 players".

Solution 2 - more high-level players. This takes some time, but now is getting better and better each day.

I could easily hack someone 20 levels below me, several times per day, but that could spoil the game for him. And I want more high-level players in game, because I like it and the more players, the more fun and the less exceptional cases like 11 hacks per day.

What proprieties are you setting for fixing all the issues. Considering Ladty has made it clear nothing but translation is in the works and that is top priorities. Just to get more players in the game, while not fixing anything else seems to be flawed thinking.More players will not fix all the unbalances mechanics of the game. If you make a better more balanced game with less and less complainants then players will follow. instead you work on translation, hoping for more players while not fixing any of the other issues with the game. Which will lead to the same complaints and frustration. Which will lead to even less people wanting to playing because then it seems you only care about how much money you are racking while not fixing any of the issues. You claim to have over a million download but are under staff. Really maybe you should fix that if you can not address any other issue but translations issues. more free to play players is not going to fix these issues. Maybe deal with your paying customers now before you lose them.
