Question about anti-virus

Post by J3573r » Mon Dec 05, 2016 3:55 am

Can someone explain what this means:
An antivirus sourced from a higher level Sentry will replace the antivirus sourced from a lower level Sentry that is installed in a Node.
It's from the wiki.

Does higher level A/V eventually spread to all nodes?
If a higher level A/V recaptures a node that originally had a lower level A/V installed on it, the node now has the higher level A/V on it?
If you have two sentries of different level, should the higher level be in the front or in the back?

It means that as the antivirus spreads through the network the higher level virus will replace the lower level virus when it reaches a node that already has the lower level antivirus on it.. Assuming the attacker doesn't take any nodes, then eventually only the higher level antivirus will cover all nodes.

As for where to put which one... it seems rather situational and somewhat preferential.

A very smart thing to do is to place a sentry and connect it to some of your resource bases or storage and assuming you have 2 sentries and you are using a codegate to protect the core / storage / resource bases connect it to the codegate only and leave it spread antivirus in your core / storage / resource bases.
