Hackers:Tactics - Part 6 - The Stunning Combo

Postby Luminaar » Sat Dec 16, 2017 12:58 am

Looting a network would be easy if nodes didn't hit back.

Who needs shields anyway, amirite? What if I told you this was possible? Check out how below!

Have you ever fought your way through a network, only to be stumped by a single solitary Core, protected by three Guardians? Takes forever to capture right? ... Wrong!

The Stunning Combo is capable of locking down a single node, applying relentless pressure to a high firewall node, or even shutting down a security node completely. No shields? No problem! 8-)

Zap that node with a Shocker, then install a Blaster or two to lock it down completely... or three if you need a problem taken care of quickly. Be sure to wait 2 seconds before installing each Blaster for maximum stun time.

You can even use this tactic against multiple nodes, if you use the Stronghold tactic to take care of extra attackers.

Not enough? There's more! Stunned nodes are also prevented from regenerating firewall. Larger firewall nodes such as the Core and high level security nodes recover a sizeable amount of firewall each second. Preventing this recovery is like dealing free damage!

Blasting your way to victory has never been so easy! Try it today!

Must say, this is a REALLY good move agaisnt that sort of stronghold. Can be very difficult if you have 2-4 lvl 21 guardians protecting a lvl 13 core...but there IS another thing that can help you in that matter: the almighty Battering Ram. Smash through their shields and take down their core like no tommorow! Hope this helps others who have trouble with these :)

Not really, it's really more of a waste. Just because it works, doesn't mean it's a really good option. Shockers shouldn't be used in combination with a Blaster because you need to keep the node protected because they fire slowly, so using ICE Walls to install a Protector in the first place is better than wasting Shockers on such choke points.

Technically, the combo is more "Protector and Blaster", as they're the ones doing the work, but Shocker fit better with the stunlock idea. ;)

Shocker does work in this case however, since 3 program slots allow a single Protector, ensuring that you can easily get the timing of Blasters correct for the stunlock. Naturally, having a high enough level of ICE Wall in the first place, or installing on a 4 slot node to go ICE Wall > Protector if your programs aren't high enough, will also work.
