Dangers of Third Sentry - Impact on Priority Order?

Postby Silken » Mon Oct 17, 2016 2:53 pm

As some of you know, the priority order is Black Security Nodes > Black Nodes > Partially Filled Nodes > White Nodes

And that the sentry seems to take priority order over Turrets and Black Ice. It fact some people use the Sentry to focus attacks in a particular direction.

A couple of times, when attacking, I noticed that the sentry didn't take priority. I have suspected, for a while, it's when the anti virus has finished spreading. Once this happens the priority changes. But due to speed of attacks I could never prove this.

However, today I hit a base with 3 Sentry and a number of upgrades going on. You can see in the picture below. The anti virus has stopped spreading and the sentry is not attacked first.

I realise this isn't complete proof. It's more of a work in progress of trying to work out the priority of attacks.

Edit: The white nodes are due to the Core being upgraded, the anti virus can't spread any further.

That may be because sentry is level 7 and black ice is level 5. I cant really tell the difference but that's the only explanation. Black Ice level 5 having more firewall than sentry level 7 can be the reason why.

Well it's not firewall. My Black Ice has a higher firewall than both my Sentry and Turret and it's always attacked last.

The reported 'firewall makes a difference' is just false on black nodes. The order is normally Sentry, Turret then Black Ice.

Perhaps level. But your example would be the wrong way around to make sense.

Yes thats true... I realized firewall isnt the case because when comparing it to my drone and black ice, my drone gets attacked first when it has less firewall.

Cheers for your input folks. We've recently amended the priority list to remove Firewall as a factor, increase the priority of the Core, and take the different Sentry states in to account. It's still not 100% I'm sure, but getting better all the time! Let me know if there's any glaring errors.

im still fairly new to this game but I did notice that normally my programs att which every node is closer and faster route to the core. if that helps. so far it never proved me wrong. but which ever is the shortest route to the core is the route that my programs would take.
