Hello,

My core 7 network currently has two armed choke points. A little one with 2 guns and a big one with 3. I'm wondering what setup I should use.

2 turrets and 1 ice

Or 2 ice and 1 turret

From what I've read Blick ice are better, so is it better to have both of them with my guardian at my main choke point or have one on each of them.

Full layout under construction

Ty for the advice

General rule of thumb for me is, if its a really weak choke point, like a lvl1 scanner, i prefer to use turrets because they are really fast and the attacker will have less time to react.

If its a higher firewall choke point like a guardian/high level scanner, i would use black ice to break through the ice wall the attacker is most likely to install.

Turret = fast (requires really weak choke point)
Black ice > shields

Hey i have a question. Do you prefer to use a level 1 scanner or a guardian as a choke point?

Scanner- pair with 2 turrets and a black ice
Guardian- 2turrets, 2 black ice

Assuming all turrets and black ice are level 4 onwards, which option allows u to take back the node faster?

Id rather use a scanner choke point than a guardian. I use the guardian to protect the defence nodes which are protecting the scanner. Scanners only have 3 attacking slots making it very difficult to attack from

Fluffington wrote:Some examples of weak nodes are:
(All firewall stats are at Level 1)
  • Evolver - 100 firewall
  • Compiler - 150 firewall
  • B-coin Mine/Server Farm - 150 firewall
  • Scanner - 180 firewall
  • Guardian - 250 firewall (This has 5 connection points which allow for more defence nodes)

Pair these up with 2 or more defence/high firewall nodes and you have yourself a choke point!

Here is a list of links to the wikia site that shows the node information at every level.

Nice guide, you could also use 2 guardian as a defense area (a 1 lv guardian as chok point with 4 high lv Turrets attached to it). It will become very poweful!!

i feel that sentry's antivirus does most of the work on a choke point if its high level enough without the delay like turrets
but anyways i have lv 1 scanner hooked to 3 lv 10 turrets connected to 2 lv 9 black ices and another lv 9 turret all protected by guardians and a sentry lv 12 in there but by watching defense replays ive found turrets will not contribute much to the recapture to the scanner (ice wall, maniac, shocker 0.5 install time) turrets have 0.5 second delay but antivirus can attack instantly ( once people get an ice wall, maniac, shocker out the choke point is very vulnerable because the point of it is to keep the attacker at the start of the choke and not to progress.
in other news I BEAT THE PENTAGON (hardest parts was to take down all the high lv code gates

Thanks Fluffington.
I've done something similar before but obviously not good enough.
Used the Protector with two Turrets, Black-Ice and a Sentry. Protector was upgrading and the player(multiple hacks before) couldn't get past the 5the node(Protector).
Great post! :D
